Founder and Managing Partner
Mr. To is a Founder and Director Emeritus of Sycamore Ventures. He has served on the Boards of Directors of both public and private corporations in the US and Asia. In addition, Mr. To has invested and worked with numerous Asian entrepreneurs, many of whom have become limited partners of the Sycamore Funds. These entrepreneurs include founders of Acer Group, Asustek Computer, MAG, API, and other companies
Prior to founding Sycamore Ventures, he was a Vice President at Citicorp Venture Capital, Ltd., and from 1989 to 1995, served as President of Citicorp Investments, Inc. Mr. To is an overseas-Chinese that grew up in the Far East whose family is involved in the textile, distribution, tobacco trading and the construction supply businesses. He is fluent in Mandarin, Tagalog and English. Mr. To is one of a few Asian-American venture capital investors who has more than forty years of experience in venture capital.
Prior to joining CVC in 1984, he worked for more than 16 years at Philips Electronics, RCA Corporation, AT&T Corporation and Digital Equipment Corporation in research and development, manufacturing and marketing.
Mr. To received a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University in 1969 and an MBA from the Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania in 1979.
