Jeffrey Yiin Ph.D.

Dr. Yiin is an active angel investor, both in Taiwan and in the US, investing in various tech sectors, including green energy, IoT hardware, social network and e-commerce.
He now serves as the independent board member for Alcor Micro, a public IC design company based in Taiwan, and sits in the advisory board for two other early-stage companies.
Jeffrey spent the entire career in the mobile semiconductor industry, working in both technical and managerial positions. From 1996 to 2002, he was a DSP engineer and technical manager for Lucent Technologies in Allentown, working in the 2G and 3G cellular chipsets. He later joined Silicon Labs in Austin, from 2002 to 2006, as a senior engineer and system architect in the design team for industry’s first integrated GSM modem. Jeffrey came back to Taiwan in 2007 to join MStar Semiconductor as an engineering VP, building the mobile phone division that shipped products to the ultra-competitive China market. The company was eventually acquired by MediaTek in late 2012. He left the company shortly after the merger was complete.
Since 2013, Jeffrey has been active in supporting the NPOs in Taiwan that tackle the education issues for under-privileged children. He provided and organized pro-bono services for the NPOs. He is now a board member of the Kid’s Bookhouse Foundation, an organization based in Taitung, a remote city in the east coast of Taiwan.
Dr. Yiin is presently an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Kennesaw State University in Alpharetta, Georgia.
Jeffrey receives his PhD degree of Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1996. He holds a BSEE degree from National Taiwan University in 1986.
